Julia has served as Chief Operating Officer since 2019 and has more than two decades of experience in environmental conservation, education, and nonprofit leadership. In her role, she focuses on supporting staff and strengthening the systems and practices that help the organization function well. She works closely with managers and teams across the organization, providing coaching, problem-solving support, and clear guidance so people can focus on doing their work effectively.
She values clarity, integrity, and practical solutions, and tends to focus on simplifying systems and processes where possible. Her work bridges field-based conservation and organizational operations, drawing on experience in both to support effective, humane leadership. An award-winning environmental educator, she has led education programs, stewarded protected lands and facilities, and supported organizations through periods of growth and change. She holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in the natural sciences and has completed graduate-level work in human resources and change management, which informs her approach to supporting people and organizational systems.
