Josh grew up among towering valley oaks and glittering fields of invasive avena in Davis, California. He graduated from UC Santa Cruz with degrees in biology and in race and ethnic studies. Later, as a field research technician at UC Davis, Josh conducted prescribed fire effects monitoring in State Parks across California. It was there, learning about native California ecosystems and fire history, that his passion for fire ecology and land stewardship was ignited. Since then, Josh has worked as the wildfire resilience coordinator at the nonprofit Community Alliance with Family Farmers, and on ecological restoration crews across the North Bay. As a prescribed fire apprentice at All Hands Ecology, Josh is excited to help foster the growth of the prescribed fire community while learning new skills and knowledge along the way.
