Training begins this fall for volunteers interested in leading school groups on environmental field trips of Martin Griffin Preserve in West Marin and Bouverie Preserve in the Sonoma Valley. Field trips occur in fall and spring.
Docents receive core training in environmental education practices and local natural history.
2026–27 training includes 5 sessions plus time in the field with students. New docents are required to shadow some school programs in the fall and partner teach some programs in the spring.
Five required* training sessions plus optional refresher gatherings:
- Sept 9* (Bouverie Preserve, Glen Ellen)
- Sept 18* (Martin Griffin Preserve, Stinson Beach)
- Sept 22 or 24 refresher training (either location)
- Nov 20* (Bouverie Preserve)
- Feb 23* (Bouverie Preserve)
- March 2 or 4 refresher training (either preserve)
- May 14* (Martin Griffin Preserve)
